Bloomsburg Track Competes at DeShriver Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the DeShriver Invitational this weekend in East Stroudsburg.

Leading the way for the women was Connie Rainieri (Gilbertville/Saint Pius X) who placed in two events. In the long jump, Rainieri recorded a PSAC-qualifying 16' 5" which gave her sixth place out of 44 competitors. Later in the day, Rainieri took fifth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 63.05.

Other top finishers for the Huskies were Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) and Michelle Jansen (Warrington/Central Bucks South). Bounds took second place in the 5,000-meter race with her time of 19:02 qualifying her for the conference championships. Also in the 5K race, Jansen placed eighth in a time of 19:52.43.

Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) also had a strong meet for the Huskies, running the mile in 5:47.

For the men, Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazelton) took eighth place in the 5K in a time of 15:52. Tim Marcoe (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) was right behind him, running the event in 15:57 and placing ninth. Also in the event, Ben Holmes (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) ran a lifetime personal record of 16:13, winning his heat.

Rounding out the top finishes for Bloomsburg, Dan Tallerico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) took fourth in the 400-meter event in a time of 52.28. Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) also notched a fourth place finish running a 9:01 in the 3,000-meters.

Bloomsburg will next compete at the East Challenge meet at Kutztown University on February 10, at 1:00 p.m.
